The signing ceremony took place on May 6, 2024, at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and was presided over by His Excellency Professor Chet Chealy, Rector of RUPP; Mr. Youk Chamroeunrith, Chairman of Forte Insurance (Cambodia); Mr. Prou Sythan, CEO of Forte Life Assurance (Cambodia) Plc.; Mr. Suy Channtharong, CEO of Forte Insurance (Cambodia); and Senior leadership teams from both organizations were also in attendance to witness this significant partnership.
Today's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in collaboration between the two institutions, focusing on the development of student resources—key contributors to the nation's future. This partnership will involve joint efforts in curriculum development, research promotion, and other activities aimed at enhancing human capital. A primary focus will be on promoting health and well-being, aligning with the initial phase of the Pentagon Strategy introduced by the Royal Government of Cambodia during its seventh mandate.
Speaking at the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony, His Excellency Professor Chet Chealy, Rector of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, highlighted the importance of higher education in fostering a prosperous society, stating, “A thriving society is built on robust human resources cultivated through higher education. It encourages deep thinking, creativity, and responsible citizenship." He added that today's MOU signing reflects the commitment of private companies like Forte Life Assurance and Forte Insurance in supporting education through various means, leading to this agreement. On behalf of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, he expressed gratitude to Forte, recognizing its clear and responsible vision as a domestic insurance company for supporting the national education sector. Forte's support contributes significant knowledge, financial resources, and educational opportunities for the institution, its staff, and its students.
During his speech at today's signing ceremony, Mr. Youk Chamroeunrith, Chairman of Forte Insurance (Cambodia), highlighted the significance of the event, stating, "This is a proud and historic milestone for the Forte Group, including Forte Life Assurance and Forte Insurance, two of Cambodia's leading domestic insurance companies. We are honored to partner with the Royal University of Phnom Penh, the country's oldest and largest public educational institution. The Forte Group has always placed great importance on education, which is crucial for the future of society. Forte is recognized as one of the best training facilities for Cambodian talent in the insurance industry."
Mr. Youk Chamroeunrith further stated, "Through this agreement, Forte Life Assurance and Forte Insurance are confident that the Royal University of Phnom Penh, along with its students, faculty, and academic staff, will gain new insights into financial knowledge. Forte offers a diverse array of flexible and innovative products designed to meet consumers' needs."
It is noteworthy that at this morning's signing ceremony, the management and senior officials of the Forte Group discussed the possibility of providing nearly the entire annual premium to the Royal University of Phnom Penh for a five-year fire insurance plan to cover its buildings. Additionally, the discussions included potential collaboration in developing specialized courses in insurance, including insurance risk management and actuarial science.
