Phnom Penh: Mr. Suy Channtharong, Head of the Micro and Agricultural Insurance at Forte Insurance, was named winner of Young ASEAN Insurance Manager Award 2021 during the award ceremony was held virtually on October 28th 2021, in conjunction with the 24th ASEAN Insurance Regulators Meeting (AIRM) and the 47th ASEAN Insurance Council (AIC) Join Plenary Meeting. The award was presented by the Secretary General of the ASEAN Insurance Council and the ASEAN Insurance Training & Research Institute on October 28 th 2021.
The ASEAN Insurance Training and Research Institute (AITRI) and the AIC organized the award to encourage young managers within the industry to actively contribute and excel in their field of work. This prestigious award was inspired under the spirit of ASEAN to honor outstanding young managers for their achievement, contribution and dedication to the insurance industry, and to recognize their potential, talent and leadership qualities.
Mr. Suy received the award in particular for his innovative and instrumental contribution in bringing agricultural and climate insurance to Cambodia. He developed many initiatives to cater to the needs of the rural and underserved communities in Cambodia and Laos. He most recently led a climate change/agriculture insurance partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia and a leading international development bank.
“We look forward to expand our agricultural and climate insurance offerings in Cambodia as well as other countries in Southeast Asia. We see this as our contribution to facilitate the financial inclusion of the rural population. Forte is committed to lead this agriculture insurance to the next level.”, Mr. Suy said.
